Potato the Cat Is Very Smart
He may not be able to consistently understand that "high five" doesn't mean "do a headbutt", but he is excellent at connecting events to receiving food. You fed him once after washing the dishes? There will be a cat on the counter every time you do the dishes for a week. Fed him once after using the bathroom? He will wait at the door every time just in case. Yesterday we noticed he can tell the difference between the sound of a large bowl being taken out of the cupboard and a small bowl (like the ones he gets his food in). However, he does not consider that it's not cat dinner time, but human lunchtime and the humans needed a vessel to hold their dipping sauce. This probably created another precedent and from now on every sauce will require feline investigation.
